Pat Robertson: Gay Marriage Leads To "Bestiality," "Child Molestation," "Pedophilia"

Some "criminals" can be taught to "think differently" or "retrained", others we simply do not have the technical ability to repair AT THIS TIME, but the primary question should be "can we modify the behavior or not? "

If we can not, the only available option AT THIS TIME is to remove the individual from society, but if we can, we should correct the dysfunction and then return the individual to society. Punishment is utterly useless in this paradigm, and any educated person recognizes this.

Getting back to your statement; another inaccuracy is the premise that "Only within the last few decades, however, has the lifestyle been de-criminalized". In THIS Country (we are the "west" that you are speaking of, aren't we?) Indian cultures often revered homosexuals, several of the "European cultures" that form the bulk of our population accepted homosexual behavior long before they arrived on these shores, and many other cultures have both celebrated those who were different or simply accepted that they were an oddity that posed no threat to the culture as a whole. ONLY HERE, in those parts of the country that latched onto the fundamentalist types of Christianity that sees the world in terms of absolute right and absolute wrong (black and white), where they could read in the bible that their personal bias and xenophobia and prejudice were justified (by selective reading) has the utter condemnation of an entire class of people been justified.

Pat Robertson: Gay Marriage Leads To "Bestiality," "Child Molestation," "Pedophilia"

Perhaps you should read more than a couple posts before positing your argument.

As I noted earlier, there are these annoying things that we refer to as "scientific facts" that point to the fallacious nature of the arguments you are attempting to make. On top of that there are HISTORICAL FACTS that you seem to be completely ignorant of. Not that I'm surprised.

Homosexuality has been around since the earliest recorded history, and likely was around before that (pre-history). The Greeks (one of the earliest recorded WESTERN cultures) made reference to homosexuals in their earliest writings.

You ARE correct, I do not need scripture (which readily suggests that there are instances when

"God" seemed unconcerned about his "chosen" engaging in pedophilia, murder, incest, or torture".

You may be right about the "most hardcore atheist" thinking that these are "evil", but, the most hardcore SCIENTIST would not agree.

Our moral code (the Judeo/Christian one) is premised on the belief that "if you break one of the rules, you must be punished". This is a form of TORTURE that is inhumane and unproductive. Modern scientific research has consistently demonstrated that the vast majority of behavior that our society considers "evil" is likely beyond the ability of the individual to control, and is likely caused by some abnormality in the brain, or in the learning of the individual.

Plane Circling Lower Manhattan Is A "Photo Op," FAA Says UPDATED VIDEO

As for your comment about stupidity, I've always found it instructive to note what someone calls "the stupidest thing since..."

You've put up the argument that the last thing you saw that was "this stupid" was "Clinton's buddies...".

So you didn't think it was "this stupid" when after 9/11 the President sent the Military to war with a sovereign nation that had nothing to do with 9/11; you didn't think it was "this stupid" when the president signed an executive order in 2004 that gave corporations a "tax incentive" to ship significant numbers of jobs overseas; you didn't think it was "this stupid" when the President ordered the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to DOUBLE their holdings just as the price of oil was coming back under $50 a barrel from a historic high of over $100 a barrel (thereby sending a message to all the speculators that this administration was committed to maintaining historically high prices for crude); you didn't think it was "this stupid" when the President AND CONGRESS removed regulation from the greediest institution in the Nation (Banks) that allowed them to encourage people to buy $100k homes for $500k???

None of that was "as stupid" as "Clinton's buddies" or this "photo op"?

Really?

Thor1 See Profile I'm a Fan of Thor1 I'm a fan of this user permalink

Amondull- See you assume that I vote a certain way, just because I blame a president for his actions. Who does that sound like? I voted for Obama in Nov. I was for Obama way before he beat Clinton.

Posting history from Thor1's profile:

Steele: GOP Does Not Have A Message Problem

Mr. Steel is right. Currently the Democrats have control of the house, senate, and white house. Yet the democrats can't pass a simple stimulus bill without seeking out republicans, despite the stubborn behavior. America choose Obama to lead this nation, not pass a pork laden stimulus package. On Friday it was also pointed out that the bad bank scenerio would have to be improvised, which to me means that very little thought went into the stimulus package to begin with. So as democrats keep botching things up, republicans will be there to pick up the pieces.

Bush, Foley & Santorum together! Enter the Photo-Caption Contest!

Every Republican congratulates Senator Foley for being voted as the creepiest Republican of the year, in what was a deep field this year.

This guy claims to be a DEMOCRAT?

Two post's in 2006, and then not a peep until Feb 2009 and it's ALL OBAMA HATE, ALL THE TIME.

C'mon folks!

We do ALL know that the POTUS doesn't make EVERY decision enacted by the Government, don't we?

We do ALL know that the POTUS isn't even informed of EVERY action the Government takes in its day-to-day operation, don't we?

We do ALL know that the Government is currently FULL OF ideological appointees from the previous administration, at ALL LEVELS, don't we?

We do ALL KNOW that many of the ideologically driven appointees carry certain beliefs about the current administration, about people in general, and about their prospects if they end up being fired for a "bad decision", don't we?

IF there is a conspiracy here, I would follow the line of "who made the decision to do this, and who approved it at the next level" before I'd begin to call the President and Congress about it.

Tr011 alert!

I guess you think you're fooling a lot of us. Not so much.

This guy "claims" he is a Democrat, but if you read his profile comments (joined April 2009, which seems to be a common date for many of the "Democrats who hate the current Government that I've seen posting here) he has nothing but derisive comments about the President and the Democratic Congress.

Two possibilities exist:

Either you are a Democrat, but are also a BIGOT!

or

You are not a Democrat.

Either way, by promoting yourself as something you are not, you render all your comments moot.

Rice, Cheney Approved Waterboarding

One side of this discussion has continuously trotted out a patently false assertion that the other side of the discussion is only interested in "prosecuting the other side".

My recommendation is; Before you continue to post comments that confirm you as a fool, read the previous posts and recognize that virtually all of us support a complete investigation of ALL THOSE who had knowledge of the TORTURE, and prosecution of ANYONE that is proven complicit.

While you're at it, you may wish to make note that the majority of comments suggesting that this should all be IGNORED are coming from ONE SIDE of the discussion, and that IS NOT the side that is advocating that ALL GUILTY PARTIES BE PUNISHED!

The question for everyone is simple; Do we want to be a Nation that TORTURES PEOPLE, or a Nation that DOES NOT?

Answer that before you answer any other question, because everything else is rendered moot if you are advocating the former.

I'm now co-posting to my own blog so that I can show the comments that Huff Mods find "unacceptable".

To be fair to the moderators at Huffington Post, and to allow you to make informed judgments as to whether I was rightfully rejected or not, I am posting the complete "Comment Policy" from Huffington Post as my first item.

You may draw your own conclusions as to the violations in my future posts.

Huffington Post Comment Policy

We never censor comments based on political or ideological point of view. We only delete those comments that are abusive, off-topic, use excessive foul language, or include ad hominem attacks. We pre-moderate comments on our blog posts and post-moderate comments on news stories.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I posted a comment. Why can't I see it on the site?
A: The volume of comments on the site has grown rapidly, and sometimes our moderators have trouble approving the comments fast enough. To address this problem, we are working on a system where trusted, regular commenters will be able to post without this delay.
Q: Why am I blocked from commenting on Huff Post?
A: There are a few scenarios in which a comment might be blocked:
  1. A comment is abusive, off-topic, uses excessive foul language, or includes an ad hominem attack
  2. If a commenter has previously posted comments that are abusive, off-topic, used excessive foul language, or include ad hominem attacks, a Huff Post moderator may decide to ban the commenter's IP address. This means the abusive commenter is banned from commenting on the site in the future, even if the later comments are not abusive. We ban IPs because the sheer volume of comments makes it too time consuming to individually delete comments written by someone with a pattern of abuse.
  3. If a commenter shares a computer or IP address with someone who has written abusive comments, it could result in a comment being blocked even if the commenter has never posted anything abusive. In the future, we plan on introducing a user log-in feature that will help mitigate this sort of situation.
Q: Can I include HTML in my comments?
A: We remove all html from comments to preserve formatting consistency.
Q: If you don't allow any HTML, how can I include a link in my comment?
A: If you include a URL in you comment, it will be converted to a link.
Q: How can I include a paragraph break in my comment?
A: Empty lines in the body of your comment will be converted to paragraph breaks.
